On 9 October, side-lighting in full sun; horrible heat waves.
On 10 October, horrible back-lighting, but field marks still obvious.

Highly disturbed, rural landscape littered with old farm equipment

Behavior of bird: 

Bird remained perched throughout much of the observation, but did drop to ground ocassionally to catch insects.

Description:

Flycatcher shaped bird size of E Phoebe.  Dark grey-brown cap with somewhat darker auriculars.  Back grey. Tail, primaries and secondaries black.  Light greyish white edges to secondaries and wing coverts.  Light salmon belly which diffused to greyish white on throat.  Dark bill and eye. See sketch.

Voice:

Not heard.

Similar species:

Eastern Phoebes may show white to bright yellow belly this time of year.  This bird was clearly darker on belly with rusty tint to feathers ("salmon").  The bird showed no streaking as a Vermilion Flycatcher would (and no supercillium).
