   Specific Locality: North side of Neal Rd. 75 feet west of intersection with Hwy. 445.______________________________________________

9. Light conditions (position of bird in relation to shade and to direction and amount of light): Observation was made with the sun behind the observer.

 

 

 

10. Optical equipment (type, power, condition): Bausch & Lomb Elite 8x42

 

 

 

11. Distance to bird(s): 15-20 feet.

 

 

 

12. Duration of observation: Sporadically for 15 minutes.

 

 

 

13. Habitat: Roadside brushy tangles.

 

 

 

14. Behavior of bird / circumstances of observation (flying, feeding, resting; include and stress habits used in identification; relate events surrounding observation): Responded energetically to pishing.

Description (include only what was actually seen, not what "should" have been seen; include if possible: total length/relative size compared to other familiar species, body bulk, shape, proportions, bill, eye, leg, and plumage characteristics. Stress features that separate it from similar species): My observations were pretty much as that captured by Janine Robin in her attached photo.

19. Previous experience with this species: Life bird in SE Arizona on 3/16/1957.  My last observations of the species on 6/12 & 6/14/2000 were on a personal trip in New Mexico.
