Habitat:

Cameron Jetties ... ship channel

Behavior of bird:

Both birds were following behind a shrimp boat with its butterfly nets out pushing south in the ship channel by the jetties.

Description:

Without the aid of binoculars we observed gulls following a shrimp boat heading south in the ship channel at the jetties. One of the gulls stuck out from the others as it was pure white with no dark markings on its body unlike the other gulls. Another white gull joined it a few minutes later and there were two white gulls following the shrimp boat. They were so out of place amongst the other gulls with dark markings. Using our binoculars we viewed them and got excited at the sight of these white gulls, especially since two Glaucous Gulls had recently been observed on the jetties by Dave and Mac. I went to the car, got my camera and took their picture.

Voice:

Many gulls were calling.

Similar species:

No other all white gulls would be amongst the other gulls with black markings. Two all white Glaucous Gulls were seen a week or two ago in this same place.
